Week One of Cooking Through, That Sounds So Good, By Carla Lalli Music
Each week I’ll share all my food adventures and the menu I’m cooking up. Check out the book by clicking here.

Managing our mental health requires coping mechanisms. One of my favorite coping mechanisms are cooking and baking. I don’t follow or subscribe to the anti-feminist perspectives on cooking and baking though. I view it as a science experiment. Something I can fully throw my mind into and become absorbed by. Cooking and baking may be more of a distraction than a coping mechanism, but when I am becoming particularly manic during the week switching gears and focusing on a recipe really helps me manage my mood and my ups and downs.
So for the rest of the summer and possibly into the fall as well, I’m going to work my way through Carla Lalli Music’s cookbook, That Sounds So Good. I’ve dabbled in a couple of the recipes in the book so far and I have to say that the ease of these recipes on a weeknight as well as the complex flavors incorporated into these meals really elevates dinner time.
So strap in, and subscribe to my sub-stack for weekly updates and fun new interesting recipes you can try at home.
This is the menu I am working on this week.
